When traditional methods are no longer sufficient, you will need to create. Wise thinking is about facing up to a challenge in another way. One of the easiest ways to do this is to use a random image.

 

Random imagery is one of my favorite ways to start a conversation. By looking at the connection between a random image and your challenge, you force yourself to get amazing ideas.

 

The strategy consists of three very simple steps. Let's look at an example to see how it works.

Step 1. Create a random image

 

First, you will need to generate a random image. By using a random image, you can challenge and surprise yourself by approaching your challenge at an unusual angle.

There are many ways to create a random image. One way is to simply open the magazine and select the first image you see.

What kind of image you use does not really matter. However, make sure your photo is selected randomly. You should never direct the selection, otherwise the process will have very little power.

Suppose, for example, that your 'random image' is an image of an elephant.

 

Step 2. Write down the properties

 

Describe your image. What are its features?

What makes your theme different?

Write down about 5 aspects of the topic in your picture.

The more you define your properties, the better. Remember that you are looking for unique properties. For example, 'big' is obviously an element of the elephant, yet as an asset, it is not very different. ‘Big ears’ are already a very different and interesting item.

 

With a random picture of an elephant, we can write down things like; trunk, teeth, thick skin, good memory, group animal etc.

 

Step 3. Choose one location and generate ideas

 

Next, you select one structure. It does not matter which one you choose, however, it is better to choose one that does not seem to fit your challenge at all. If the combination seems absurd, it is very interesting to use it as a way to evoke creative ideas. we can, for example, choose 'stem'. Good stuff to start with, as it is a weird start.

After choosing one location, it is time to create ideas. Combine the selected material with your challenge, then force the combination.

What new ideas can you come up with?

Stretch your mind and try to develop as many new ideas as you can. Continue to generate new ideas for about 3 minutes. We can use the ‘stem’ structure as a floral holder, as a adjustable lamp, or perhaps as a table table legs.
